How it started

I started playing guitar when I was 13 years old. I learned a few chords from my neighbour, who also lend me the guitar. And I was sold! I thought it was the perfect instrument; it was fun to play and it sounded great. I mean, it could sing ánd scream! Moreover, it was used in all the music I listened to and it also looked awesome. I adored the guitar instantly, but was never scared to adjust it: I would change hardware, repaint, experiment with string/pickup heights... I had so much fun trying to make my starters-kit guitar play better, and ultimately, make it my guitar.

A few years later I visited my uncle's furniture factory in Indonesia. I stayed there for a while and it didn't take long before I wanted to try to built my own guitar. Of course, considering my limited woodworking skills, it wasn't a big succes from the get-go. But being surrounded by all kinds of wood, machinery and skilled people, I had the perfect setting to start over and over again until I made something playable.

So I started building ‘my’ guitars, with shapes I like and finishes I’m into. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it has to be pure. Simple guitars, pure rock ’n roll. Guitars that invite you to play. Guitars that belong on stage, or disturb the neighbours, guitars that have to be loud.

I love to build guitars that can't be found in stores, guitars that are one-of-a-kind. Using colors that never have been used on an instrument before. Be unique! Do your own thing! There are already a million guitars, now it's time to build yours!
